Who is the PAH?
The PAH is a citizen’s movement focused on the right to housing. It was created in February 2009 in Barcelona. The main aim of the PAH is to denounce the dramatic situation faced by thousands of families who are unable to pay their mortgages and are facing foreclosure and evictions as a result of the financial fraud of 2008. We seek to make housing fair and accessible to all.

Last October the PAH (Platform for Mortgage Victims, by its Spanish acronym) went to New York City, where we participated in sessions about evictions and gentrification, jointly with 15 collectives from the USA and Europe, such as Habitat (Lisbon, Portugal), Encounter (Athens, Greece), Occupy Our Homes (Atlanta, GA, USA) and others.
We profited from the opportunity to learn about and interchange response and organization mechanisms to defend the right to housing.

In a boisterous week of events, the PAH participated in a number of encounters in London. MIPIM is the world’s largest property fair, usually held in Cannes, far away from people’s eyes. From March 9th to March 13th, the Observatorio DESC and the PAH were invited to Lyon to participate in an international conference to discuss the right to housing. At this conference, organizations that fight to protect the right to housing in Belgium (Habitat & Participation), Italy (Start Up / Action), France (Alpil), Hungary (Szindikátus), and Spain (DESC and PAH), met to discuss this issue.
